Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a type of treatment that uses the patient's own blood to stimulate hair growth. PRP is believed to work by promoting the growth of new blood vessels in the scalp, which can help to improve blood flow to the hair follicles. This, in turn, can help to stimulate the growth of new hair and improve the health of existing hair PRP is typically used as an adjuvant therapy in conjunction with other hair loss treatments, such as medications or hair transplant surgery. It is not a standalone treatment for hair loss.

PRP treatment for hair growth involves the following steps:

  • Blood is drawn from the patient's arm, as in a routine blood test.
  • The blood is placed in a centrifuge, which is a machine that spins the blood at high speeds to separate the different components.
  • The platelet-rich plasma is collected and prepared for injection
  • The PRP is injected into the scalp using a thin needle. The injection sites are typically spaced about 1 centimeter apart.
  • The patient may need to undergo several PRP treatment sessions to achieve the desired results.
