Pigmentation

Body Aesthetics

Hyperpigmentation is an excess of pigment in the skin, which can cause dark patches or spots. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including sun exposure, injuries, hormonal changes, and certain medications. Hyperpigmentation can affect people of any skin tone and can occur on any part of the body.

There are several different types of hyperpigmentation, including:

Melasma: A common skin condition that causes brown or gray-brown patches on the face, typically as a result of hormonal changes.

Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: Dark patches or spots that occur as a result of an injury to the skin, such as a cut, burn, or acne breakout.

Solar lentigines: Also known as age spots or sunspots, these are small, dark spots that occur as a result of sun exposure.

Treatment for hyperpigmentation may include topical medications, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and in some cases, laser therapy. It is important to see a Dermatologist if you have hyperpigmentation, as they can recommend the most appropriate treatment for you.
