Psoriasis

Body Aesthetics

Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that causes cells to build up rapidly on the surface of the skin. The extra skin cells form scales and red patches that are sometimes itchy and painful. Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease, which means that the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy cells in the body. It is not clear what causes the immune system to behave this way, but it is thought to be related to a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

There are several different types of psoriasis, including plaque psoriasis, guttate psoriasis, inverse psoriasis, and pustular psoriasis. The most common form, plaque psoriasis, appears as raised, red patches covered with a silvery white buildup of dead skin cells. It can occur anywhere on the body, but is most commonly found on the scalp, knees, and elbows.

There is no cure for psoriasis, but it can be managed with treatment, which may include the use of creams, ointments, light therapy and medications.
